Myndlift, the most personalized brain health platform, is launching Alpha Peak; a new feature that tracks and optimizes mental performance daily.

With Alpha Peak, you can see how lifestyle choices—like sleep, alcohol intake, exercise, and more—affect your brain health. Most importantly, you can use these insights into your unique brain activity to make informed decisions based on real data, leading to improved mental performance and wellbeing.

What Is Alpha Peak

Imagine your brain as a radio, with different channels playing at different frequencies. “Alpha” is a group of channels that play at frequencies between 8 to 12 Hz. The channel that’s loudest in that range is what we call Alpha Peak.

It’s been used in studies as a measure of cognitive health, processing speed, and memory.

What’s an Ideal Alpha Peak?

Alpha peak can be as low as 8 Hz and as high as 12 Hz. Generally, the higher your Alpha Peak, the better your brain performance is.

More specifically, a higher Alpha Peak indicates better cognitive function, and emotional balance, as well as how well your brain adapts, as shown in a recent study.

Furthermore, research and Myndlift data from over 1,000,000 brain training sessions show that your Alpha Peak will keep going up as you grow up, peaking in your early 30s, after which it begins to slowly decrease.

Some people, like top-performing athletes, usually have an extremely high Alpha Peak while others have it low. And while this brain measure is significantly influenced by genetics, there are still ways to improve it.

How Does Myndlift Measure Alpha Peak?

To calculate Alpha Peak, Myndlift uses the EEG data collected from the user’s brain training sessions. EEG refers to the electrical signals that the brain-sensing headband picks up.

After enough sessions are completed with reliable data, a personalized baseline is established, and a graph is generated to indicate if the Alpha Peak is within, below, or above the baseline on any given day.

How does this graph help?

Before each session, Myndlift members report their mental state, emotional state, and recent activities, such as exercise, coffee consumption, alcohol intake, and more.

This data is then added to the Alpha Peak graph as annotation alongside their brain performance on that specific day.

Visualizing these data insights together helps in understanding how different lifestyle habits, patterns, and behaviors are impacting brain health and performance.

How to Use Alpha Peak Insights to Improve Your Brain Health

You can use Alpha Peak insights to optimize your lifestyle and improve brain health as well as performance.

For example, if better sleep or more exercise improves your Alpha Peak, you can focus on those habits. You can also spot stress triggers by tracking changes in your Alpha Peak during stressful times.

By reflecting on your feelings, sleep, and lifestyle when Alpha Peak drops, you can adjust habits for a healthier, more resilient brain.

But remember, this is a long game. It's the big shifts over time that give you the real story, not the day-to-day changes.

Myndlift provides a personalized expert-guided brain health program that can help you elevate your wellbeing by improving your sleep quality, focus, calm, and self-control over mood. Take this 10-second quiz to check if you’re eligible to kick-start your journey for better brain health.
